Russell Wayne Covington, 56, passed away suddenly on Friday, May 15, 2015 in Flower Mound, Texas. Russell was born April 19, 1959 to John and Edna Covington in Dallas, Texas. Russell was a colorful character who never met a stranger. He lived to love and laugh. Russell had a wicked sense of humor and an endless supply of stories and jokes; and was a great storyteller. Russell was also a "jack of all trades". Over the course of his life, he had been a volunteer fireman, fire chief, locksmith, and property manager for many years. Russell loved the outdoors. He loved animals. He loved his job. But Russell's greatest passion was for his family. He loved his children and was proud of all his family. Russell loved people. He loved life. He had a compassionate heart and giving spirit. His is a spirit that will truly be missed by all who knew him. Russell is preceded in death by his parents, John and Edna Covington. Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Chad Covington and his wife Jessica; daughter, Shelby Covington; their mother Lanell Day-Stanfield; brother, Mike Covington and his wife Julie; sister, Linda Junkin and her husband Mike; as well as numerous extended family, friends and neighbors. A gathering of family friends will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2015 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held the same day at 2:30 p.m. at Hooker Ridge Cemetery in East Tawakoni.
