Ricky James Gray

Ricky James Gray, age 60 of Quinlan passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2023 in Greenville. Ricky was born October 6, 1962 in Dallas to Sammy James Gray and Judith Ann Hill Belcher.

Ricky was a kind-hearted gentle spirit with a big personality. In the last few years he had grown close in his walk with the Lord, which is something he never missed an opportunity to share. Even after being reduced to one leg, he continued to have the spirit of a servant, and would help a random passerby in the store to reach something off the top shelf or carry heavy items. He used that boisterous personality to strike up a conversation with someone in a waiting room to share God’s good news.

Ricky has been taking care of his mother for several years.  He loved to cook and was good at it. He made sure she made every doctor appointment, took her medicines, checked her blood, and always made her feel special.  He always put mom first.

He was a good friend to so many! He could be counted on and depended on always. Whether you needed simple advice, an empathetic ear, a shoulder to lean on, Papa Rick was always there for ya.

He is survived by his mother, Judy Belcher of Quinlan; sisters, Deborah Puente and fiancé Freddy Helmuth of Lone Oak, Kathy Brazier and husband Mike of Mabank; nieces, Tabitha Davidson, Melanie Truitt and husband Josh, Amber Gartside and husband Nick, Brittany Caldwell and husband Taylor; nephews, Gary Alan McInturff and partner Lindsay Thomas; great nieces, Chloe Davidson, Madison Truitt, Makayla Truitt, Harper McInturff, London Gartside, Isla Gray Gartside, Sydney Rose Gartside, Bella Marie Gartside; great nephews, Cameron Davidson, Rowdy McInturff, Liam Truitt.
