Leona Pavlicek

Leona Elizabeth Pavlicek passed away in Dallas, Texas at the age 101. Leona was born on May 27, 1913 to Anton and Tillie Slovak in Hillsboro, Texas. Leona would marry Johnny Owens in 1930. To this union were born four children, Nick, Johnnie, Betty and Rick. Leona later met and married Emil Pavlicek in 1956. Leona was a mother and homemaker for her spouses and children. She created a warm and safe place for her children to thrive and grow. Her passion was always for her family; children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Leona would live to see and nurture five generations of her family. "Mama" was truly loved by her family and will truly be missed. Leona is preceded in death by her parents, Anton and Tillie Slovak; her husband Emil Pavlicek; son, Nick Owens and daughter Johnnie Meitzen. She is survived by her son; Rick Owens and his wife Karen; daughter, Betty Wayt; twelve grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; as well numerous nieces and nephews, extended family, friends and neighbors. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2014 from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held that same day, Saturday, June 28, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. also at the funeral home. Interment will immediately follow the service at Lakeside Memorial Park in Quinlan, Texas.
