Johnny Rich

February 22, 1941 — May 27, 2012

Johnny Thomas Rich, 71, of Royse City, passed away May 27, 2012 in Dallas. He was born February 22, 1941 in Euless, the son of G. R. and Fanny (Blake) Rich. He married Lois Glass in December, 1962 in Lancaster. He served his country in the United States Army from 1961 to 1964 doing a tour of duty in Korea. Johnny worked for Affiliated Food Stores for 25 years before retiring. Johnny loved to travel, eat out and go to the movies. He loved his dogs. Johnny also loved people. He was always ready to give advice, a word of encouragement; or a simple handshake and a smile to anyone he met. But his true passion was his family. Johnny loved his wife and family deeply. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was always interested in what they were doing and always ready to encourage, scold or comfort them as needed. He was always involved and active in their lives and will be truly missed. Johnny is survived by his wife, Lois Rich of Royse City; four daughters, Delonda McKinney of Deer Park, Stacy Rich of Wills Point, Kim Peveto of Conroe, and Lori Rich of Alba; three sisters, Shelby Briscoe of Petty, Leona McDonald of Honey Grove, Betty Hollaway of Irving; 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and neighbors. He is preceded in his death by his parents; one sister, Margaret Sexton; three brothers, Bobby Rich, G. R. Rich, Jr., and David Rich; grandson Ed Peveto; and great grandson, Caleb Judd May. A funeral service was held on Wednesday, May 30, at 1:00 pm in the chapel of Quinlan Funeral Home with Bobby Rich officiating. Interment followed the service at the Lone Star Cemetery in Point. Visitation with the family was Tuesday night from 6 to 8 p.m. at Quinlan Funeral Home.
