James Curtis Pack, 76 of Quinlan, passed away on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 in Dallas, Texas. James was affectionately known as "Six Pack" by his family and friends. "Six Pack" was born on January 30, 1937 to Orle and Mildred Pack in Denison, Texas. After graduating from high School, Jim would go on to service his country with honor and distinction in the United States Marine Corp. Jim was a welder and pipefitter with Local 100 for many years before retiring. Jim was very active in his community. He gave generously to the local animal shelters and other charitable organizations. He was a member of the Trestle Board Masonic Lodge, Shiloh Masonic Lodge and Shriners for many years. Jim was a passionate supporter of his fellow veterans. He was a member of the American Veterans and the Sons of the American Legion. But his greatest passion was for the American Legion Post 517, where he served as Commander. His warm smile, sunny disposition and quick wit will truly be missed by those who loved him and his community. "Six Pack" will be missed. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Orle and Mildred Pack; sons, Tommy Nicklas and Danny Nicklas; brother, Bud Cooper. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Billie Jean Pack; sons, Timothy Pack, Terry Pack and his wife Lisa; daughters, Teresa Carraway and her husband Aaron, Rhonda Grimes, Dawn Upton, Carolyn Spicer; sixteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; as well as numerous extended family, friends and neighbors. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held the following day, Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. also at the funeral home. The interment with military honors will immediately follow the service at Lakeside Memorial Park in Quinlan. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donation be made in "Six Pack's" name to the American Legion Post 517, Quinlan, Texas or to a local animal shelter.
