Hazel Marie (Singleton) Bumpass, 94, passed away on Friday, July 25, 2014 in Greenville, Texas. Hazel was born on April 23, 1920 to Miles and Bettie Birchfield in Poetry, Texas. She met and later married Marvin Singleton in June, 1935. Hazel worked her whole life as a seamstress. She would work for Haggard Industries and Southland Manufacturing; retiring from there after thirty-two years of service. Hazel would later marry J. C. Bumpass in 1984. Hazel is preceded in death by her parents, Miles and Bettie Birchfield; her husbands, Marvin Singleton and J. C. Bumpass; sons Marvin Singleton, Jr and Robert Singleton; grandchildren, Greg Singleton and Sherry White; great-grandchildren, Joseph Sasser; great-great-grandson, Parker Sasser; sisters, Louise, Sylvania and Helen. Those left to celebrate her life include her daughter-in-laws, Callie Singleton and June Singleton; grandchildren, Debbie France and her husband Rowdy, Buster Singleton and his wife Christy; great-grandchildren, Chris Singleton and Julie Bowen-Singleton, G. W. Sasser, Maegan Baxter, Colt Baxter and his wife Brittany, Khal Baxter, Travis Singleton and Layne Singleton; great-great-grandchildren, Jalie Singleton, Kaylie Singleton, Aryana Singleton, Paisley Singleton, Baylie Sasser, Axton Sasser and Eli Russell; as well as numerous extended family, friends and neighbors. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday, July 28, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held that same day, Monday, July 28, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. also at the funeral home. Interment will immediately follow the service at IOOF Cemetery in Quinlan, Texas.
