Charles Samuel Haynes, 91, of Rowlett passed away on Sunday, June 17, 2018 in Rockwall. Charles was born on April 8, 1927 in Dallas, to his parents John Oscar Haynes and Rena Inabell (Pilliod) Haynes. Charles grew up around Garland and graduated in the 11th grade from Garland High School. Charles was a mechanic in his early adult years. He became the owned a hobby shop, and then became a welder later on. He often designed his own plans, and he was well known as the welder to go to in Royse City during the late 60s, 70s and the 80s.
On July 30, 1947 Charles married Lillie Lou Mize after a whirlwind courtship of two weeks. She was 15 and he was 20 and they often told stories of riding his Harley through Garland with Lillie standing on his shoulders. Together, they had four children that survive him: Laura Kay Haynes Lorance of Quinlan, Stephen Christopher Haynes of Pewaukee, NC, John Donald Haynes of WI, and Gregory Lance Haynes of Rowlett; also survived by 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren, with one more on the way.
After the death of Lillie, Charles married Lawana. They lived in Quinlan before they moved to Point where they spent most of their years together. After retiring from welding, he enjoyed going to the senior citizens' dances and to garage sales with Lawana finding treasures he could re-sale at his booth at the flea market.
After the death of Lawana, Charles married Marie, whom he met through a mutual friend, at a senior center luncheon and BINGO game. They resided part time at his home in Garland and at her home in Dallas. Although his time with Marie was short they shared a sweet love for one another.
Charles "Charlie" Haynes is loved and survived by his spouse, Marie; his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren mentioned above; also, by step-children and step grandchildren; one brother, Joseph Andrew Haynes; one sister, Doris Marie Haynes Joseph of WA; and many other relatives and friends.
Charles is preceded in his death by his parents, Oscar and Rena Haynes; his first wife, Lillie Haynes; his second wife, Lawana Haynes; and his older sister, Frances Mae Haynes Jefferies.
A public visitation and viewing will be held at the Life Spring Church, 6621 E I-30, Fate TX 75189 on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. His funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at the same church at 10:00 am. Burial will follow the service in the Rest Haven Memorial Park in Rockwall.
