Memorial service for Alice Hughes, 93, of Brownsboro, Texas will be held at Quinlan Funeral Home at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 28, 2021 in Quinlan, Texas with Pastor Lance Eiland officiating. An inurnment will follow the service at Quinlan West Memorial Cemetery. Mrs. Hughes passed away June 27, 2020 at Hospice of East Texas.
Alice was the beloved wife of Edwin Hughes. She was born in Gustine, Texas, and was the daughter of Austin Earl and Lillian Mae Hodges. She has four children, Ann, Betty (deceased), Kenneth, and Patricia (deceased).
Alice was of the Baptist faith and worked as a home health care professional. She was a strong, kind, gentle woman. Her joy in life was serving others and spending time with her family and many friends, and talking, talking a lot! Her final act of kindness was to donate her body to UT Southwestern for medical research.
She is survived by her son Kenneth Hughes of Dallas, TX; daughter Lillian Zapata and husband Tony of Quinlan, TX; son-in-law Robert Martin of Brownsboro, TX; sisters Neva Hancock Smith of Dublin, TX, Becky Miller of Garland, TX; sister-in-law Helen Anderson of Stephenville, TX; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and family members and friends.
